Sat, Oct 1 Kaleidescopika
Kaleidescopika is a unique collaboration between New York City's celebrated masters of cirque, The Muse, and the dramatic energy of contemporary chamber music maverick's, cordis.. This production offers a sight and sound experience that melds the athleticism of cirque, the excitement of multimedia, and the euphoria of music into one breathtaking performance. Thurs, Oct 27 Dave Bennett’s Roots of Pop “Swing To Rock”
A multi-instrument phenomenon, Dave Bennett is a clarinet virtuoso who plays electric guitar, piano, drums and vocalizes. He is the only artist anywhere saluting The Roots of Pop: covering music from the Swing Era to early Rockabilly and Country, to Elvis Presley, the Beatles and more. Entirely self-taught, Dave began at age 10 on clarinet listening to and quickly playing along with Benny Goodman records. At 12 he was invited by legendary jazz trumpeter Doc Cheatham to the bandstand of New York’s famous Sweet Basil jazz club. By 14 he was out frequently touring around the USA with Michigan’s New Reformation Dixieland Band. Later self-taught instruments were the electric guitar and “boogie-woogie” style piano. Dave is a blazing clarinet sensation playing the “swing style” of Benny Goodman.
Thurs, Nov 10 Jimmy Webb – The Glen Campbell Years
Songwriter Jimmy Webb has had chart-topping hits in a unique range of genres over the last 50 years, from country to pop to disco, with songs including “Worst That Could Happen,” “The Highway Man,” “Up, Up and Away” and “MacArthur Park.” But perhaps the most enduring partnership out of all those memorable songs is his musical brotherhood with Glen Campbell.
JIMMY WEBB: THE GLEN CAMPBELL YEARS highlights some of the 100+ recordings from the Webb/Campbell songbook, pulling the audience in with various accounts each night of the personal side of generational touchstones like “Honey Come Back,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston” and more from decades of shared musical memories.
Thurs, Dec 8 Christmas with Emile Pandolfi
With almost thirty recordings in his own discography, Emile Pandolfi ranks among America’s most popular piano artists. With the majority of his performance repertoire being lush, intricate arrangements of Broadway and standards that form the canon of "The Great American Songbook", his influences are, in fact, more classical than pop. And it is this subjective layering of classical style that Pandolfi infuses onto the broad palette of selections performed in his frequent concerts that resonates with audiences everywhere.
Thurs, Jan 26 Beginnings – Chicago Tribute
In the fall of 2002 Beginnings was born out of the love and respect for the music of one of the greatest American rock bands of all time – Chicago. Forged together by a group of professional musicians, all veterans of the New York music scene, Beginnings, like Chicago, was a labor of love based on musicianship and professionalism. But a funny thing happened on the way to Carnegie hall… a collaboration blossomed into a non-stop musical odyssey.
Beginnings is tightly woven structure of intellectual musical talent rarely seen in today’s music world, either in the original or tribute arenas. They are individually talented musicians who together comprise an ever evolving universe of musicality that encompasses multi-instrumentalists and multiple lead vocalists. Quite simply, they are a band like no other. This depth of talent is focused on the band Chicago, whose song book spans more than forty years, and includes five number 1 albums and twenty top ten hits. Their performances bring to life the music of Chicago, and exceptionally recreate every decade of the band’s hits. Beginnings is a family friendly melodic adventure, pleasing to music lovers of all ages.
